Organisation is called Justice for Sisters in Islam
The organisation is far too small to be registered as a charity and is being run as a pro-bono online forum only. This will be run by founding member to begin with until others join as the forum grows (these will be selected independently to form the board of members). The electronic website is the registered address. Justice for Sisters in Islam will be run mainly online and to empower and connect with Muslim women and the community to gaining access to justice. The forum intends to enhance Muslim women’s rights in Islam and within the civil family justice system.
The objects of the organisation follow charity goals and aims. At this stage, it is intended to bring awareness and disseminate information to help vulnerable Muslim women in the UK.
(1) The promotion of equality and diversity for the public benefit, in particular by advancing education and raising awareness in equality and diversity, and promoting activities to foster understanding between peoplefrom diverse backgrounds.
(2) To promote social inclusion for the public benefit by working with people who are socially excluded on the grounds of their sex,ethnic origin, religion, belief or creed
(in particular, women in the Muslim community) to relieve the needs of such people and assist them to achieve their potential and integrate into society, in particular by:
(3) The promotion of religious, gender equality and racial harmony for the benefit of the public by promoting knowledge and mutual understanding and respect of the beliefs and practices of different religious and racial groups, Particularly, Muslim women and Islam.
At present there are no funds raised or money taken from members of the public. It is simply an online forum to assist Muslim women and increase membership and eventually in year or two to register as a charity.
No person or connected person may:
(a) buy or receive any goods or services from the organisation on terms preferential to those applicable to members of the public;
(b) sell goods, services or any interest in land to the charity;
(c) be employed by, or receive any remuneration from the organisation;
(d) receive any other financial benefit from the organisation;
unless the payment is permitted by clause 1 (2) of this clause, or authorised by the court or to promote the research or good of the public members.
In this document a “financial benefit” means a benefit,direct or indirect, which is either money or has a monetary value.
An accountant will be employed (to provide audited accounts so that all monies is accounted for if any grants or payments are given to promote that good of the public. A proper budget, accounts and reports will be kept, interim reports to be provided for accountability of any expenses, expenditure. Written accounts and ledgers, receipts to be kept for all the expenses.
A member must declare the nature and extent of any interest, direct or indirect, which he or she has in aproposed transaction or arrangement with the organisation or in any transaction or arrangement entered into by the charity which has not previously been declared.A director must absent himself or herself from any discussions of the members of the organisation in which it is possible that a conflict will arise between his or her duty to act solely in the interests of the organisation and any personal interest(including but not limited to any personal financial interest).
(1)If a conflict of interests arises for a director because of a duty of loyalty owed to another organisation or person and the conflict is not authorised by virtue of any other provisions in the articles, the unconflicted members may authorize such a conflict of interests where the following conditions apply:
(a) The conflicted member is absent from the part of the meeting at which there isdiscussion of any arrangement or transactions affecting that other organisationor person;
(b) The conflicted members does not vote on any such matter and is not to be counted when considering whether a quorum of members is present at the meeting; and
(c) The conflicted member consider it is in the interests of the charity to authorize the conflict of interests in the circumstances applying.
(2) In this article a conflict of interests arising because of a duty of loyalty owed to another organisation or persononly refers to such a conflict which does not involve a direct or indirect benefits of any nature to a director or to a connected person.
(1) The subscribers are the first members of the organisation.
(2) Membership is open to other individuals ororganisations who:
(a) apply to the organisation in the form required by the board members (these will be taken on as the organisation evolves); and
(b) area resident of the United Kingdom; and
(c) agree with the organisatIon’s Vision, Mission, Core Principles and Objects; and
(d) are approved by the members.
(3) (a) The members may only refuse an application for membership if, acting reasonably and properly, they consider it to be in the best interests of the organisation to refuse the application.
(b) The members must consider any written representations the applicant may make about the decision. The members’ decision following any written representations must be notified to the applicant in writing but shall be final.
(4) Membership is not transferable.
(5) The members must keep a register of names and addresses of the members.
(6) Members provide consent for any personal data provided to the organisation to be processed by the organisation in pursuance of its legal obligations, legitimate interests and objects provided that any processing of data is in accordance with organisation’s privacy policy and the law.
Membership is terminated if:
(1) Themember dies or, if it is an organisation, ceases to exist;
(2) The-member resigns by written notice to the members unless, after the resignation,there would be less than two members;
(3) Any sum due (if paid) from the member to the organisation is not paid in full within six months of-it falling due;
(4) (a) The member is removed from membership by agreement of the other members made at a meeting of the members, that it is in the best interests of the organisation that his or her membership is terminated. The agreement to remove a member, and the reasons for that decision, must be notified to the member within 7 days of the resolution being passed, and any written representation considered.
These are not all applicable but are documented should these become relevant.
Presently, there is no remuneration paid or donations, subscriptions collected. Since there is no collection of any donations or funds, the founding member is running this from personal income. There is also no bank accounts at this stage to keep matters simple and no fundraising or funding will be sought from any organisation in the first year.
